Mitral Valve Replacement – Procedure, the recovery test
MVR
What is mitral valve disease?
heart surgeons in India are recognized for their expertise and experience in the repair and replacement of mitral valves of the heart. In some cases, surgery can be performed with minimally invasive techniques, including robotic assisted surgery, which can result in significantly less pain and recovery time for patients.
What are the surgical options?
Many mitral valves can be repaired, especially if they leak due to a degenerative disease. A separate analysis of mitral valve repair will be available through this site. In many cases, however, valve is too damaged to permit repair and the valve must be replaced by a prosthesis (artificial) valve. The damaged valves by rheumatic disease often must be replaced.
Overall, there are two types of artificial valves available – mechanical valves made entirely of metal and pyrolytic carbon – or biological valves – from animal tissues. Each has advantages and disadvantages with respect to durability (how long it will last) and the risk of blood clots forming in the valve.
The choice of what type of use should be made by you and your doctors taking Consider the following: –
* Your age
* Other medical conditions
* Your preferences with regard to drugs and the risk of reoperation
* Your lifestyle.
The symptoms of mitral valve stenosis
Signs and symptoms of mitral stenosis depends on the severity and quickly The disorder develops. Some people never develop symptoms
Some have minor problems that worsen suddenly. Signs and symptoms of mitral stenosis include: –
* Difficulty breathing, especially with physical exertion (exercise) or when you lie
* Fatigue, especially during increased activity
* Swelling of feet or ankles
* Heart palpitations – a feeling of rapid heartbeat, shaking
Spells * Dizziness or fainting
* Frequent respiratory infections such as bronchitis
* Heavy cough, sometimes with bloody sputum
* On rare occasions, discomfort in the chest or chest pain
What causes mitral valve problems?
Mitral valve problems are rarely caused by a defect birth, also known as a congenital condition. More often, simple "wear" can cause part of the valve mechanism to fail. This called "degenerative disease." This may be related to the elderly, although many young people have this condition. Rheumatic fever can damage mitral valve stenosis or regurgitation occurs. Occasionally, the mitral valve is damaged by infection or bacterial endocarditis. Ischemic heart disease (CHD) can also cause the mitral valve to leak.
Causes of Mitral valve stenosis
The mitral valve can be reduced because of conditions including: –
* Rheumatic fever – In some people, the body's response to the strep infection in the throat leads to damage of the mitral valve that causes the valve to swell, thicken, and regurgitation of leakage (mitral). This inflammatory process can cause valve fuse and harden, resulting in mitral stenosis. People who have had rheumatic fever may have both mitral stenosis and mitral regurgitation.
* Congenital Heart Defects: – Some babies are born with a narrowing of the mitral valve and mitral stenosis develop at an early age. Babies born with this problem usually require heart surgery to repair the valve. Others are born with a malformation of the mitral valve and have a risk of developing stenosis mitral when they are older.
